cae case studies: rear axle analysis
A commercial vehicle manufacturer needed to validate their design for a rear axle, which was under development. The analysis involved subjecting the axle to:
- Engine weight
- Cabin weight
- Self weight
- Payload
- Braking Force (deceleration)
- Cornering force
- Transient loads

Results for Rear Axle finite element analysis
The static and dynamic analyses revealed the areas of maximum stresses and their values, which were below the safe values. The maximum vertical deflections were also within the design limits. After discussions with the client, the design was deemed to be safe.
