cae case studies: exhaust system analysis
An automobile client wanted to analyze a passenger car the exhaust system for normal modes of vibration and frequency response. With a given gas inlet temperature, the temperatures on the surface of the exhaust line were estimated. The excitation data was provided by the client. I-DEAS was used for pre-processing and post-processing and NX Nastran was used for solving. The areas of maximum stress were identified, and the client was provided plots and tables of the stress intensity and displacements.
